Dr. William Pfaff "Music, Image, Time: Place as Inspiraton"

In the summer of 2009, Dr. William Pfaff, Associate Professor of Music, SUNY Plattsburgh, was an Artist-in-Residence at the Petrified Forest National Park in Holbrook, Arizona. During his time there, he photographed the landscape, recorded natural sounds, interviewed park staff and composed music.  “Music, Image, Time: Place as Inspiration” is a presentation that explores the residency in terms of preparation, experiences in the park and the creation of a collaborative artwork. The content of the presentation is interdisciplinary in nature and shows how geology, paleontology and anthropology can be sources of creative inspiration. Dr. Pfaff’s experiences with park scientists in each of these three fields are included.
