Maura Flaherty CPA, Neighbor

Maura has specialized in individual and small business tax consulting, research, planning and compliance. She has over 30 years of business experience, including management of operations, sales, marketing, training and business system analysis. She has taught Intermediate Accounting in an adjunct capacity and developed online accounting content for virtual open educational resources. Prior to establishing her tax practice, Maura was with an elite, regional public accounting firm, servicing the tax needs of high net worth clients. Prior to that, she was with a highly respected Central New York accounting firm focusing on governmental audits.

Maura began her career at Safety Insurance, Boston, as a Manager and then in MIS as a Business Systems Analyst. During this time, she developed specifications and analyzed/automated workflows. Eventually, Maura parlayed her technical knowledge into a successful marketing and sales career at Agency Management Services, providing turnkey insurance management systems and then at FTP Software supplying applications used to network computer systems.

Maura holds an undergraduate degree, in Business Management, from Merrimack College and an MBA, Management & Strategy, from Western Governors University. In addition, she has completed extensive graduate accounting and taxation coursework at the Johnson School, Cornell University, and is licensed as a CPA in the state of Massachusetts.
