On the article Town Gets Offer For Bradstreet

ReplyThis will be a disaster to the down town development. In recent years the Messina Plaza was done over in a great way and many other buildings have been cleaned up and polished. To make the site a low income housing development would set this back irrevocably. If any developer applied to build a project like this they would have to follow the State Mandate of Affordable housing percentages. This would mean that a higher percentage of the units would be standard price and they would have a blend of income levels and the town would be able to negotiate to administer who qualifies for the affordable units which means that Town Residents meeting the income requirements would be able to have first option. If all of the units are low income this is not an option and the developer would prefer tenants whose income is insured by government issue. I think that residents and business owners should take a stand against this type of development to guarantee continued positive growth down town.

I agree. Politicians throw out ridiculous statements like increase taxes on the wealthy and save everything else without cuts yet they know clearly that if you taxed the wealthy 100% it wouldn't even put a dent in it. Reform has to start with the government and all the siccophants we elect who are "EXEMPT" not only from the laws they impose on us but all of the programs as well. What household wouldn't decide to just make more money so they could keep 3 cars and 4 vacations? Unfortunately only the government can do that.

ReplyAt 8 a.m. I was standing on the Pool deck with a coffee looking at the World Trade Center. At 9 a.m. as I entered a meeting a secretary came in and told us the plane hit the tower and then came back a few minutes later to tell us a second plane hit.
I sat on the NJ Turnpike and watched the towers Burn and fall for hours. -

ReplyI think it shows an incredible abuse of authority to decide a man's fate before he is even tried. I have hired Dave Castricone in the past and would hire him again. He did a great job. If and when he comes to trial and "Facts" are proven then perhaps I will rethink that but I certainly won't have to rethink my vote for school committee.

On the article Tierney Hails House Tax Vote, Asks Republicans to Follow Suit

ReplyI think it is ironic that Tierney and his cronies always told us there were no Tax Cuts for the middle class but now they want to "Keep them in Place". Of course we know what a sterling "Honest" citizen Tierney is so it is no wonder. Maybe someday Massachusetts will wake up and get rid of all the corrupt politicians or maybe just give them their own radio or TV station like Tom Finneran. That's the way to punish criminals isn't it?

Let's not confuse "Affordable" Housing with "Low Income" housing. The rules and regulations are totally different. The company that submitted the proposal "Specializes in low income housing". Consider the impact differential on the Town's cost of education for a "Low Income housing development" vs an affordable "Age Restricted" development.
