Merrimack Unveils 2011-12 Home Hockey Schedule

Season tickets are on sale now.

The following was submitted by Merrimack College Athletics. See the attached PDF for the Warriors' 2011-12 home schedule.    Following the most successful season in Merrimack’s Division I history, Merrimack has released the 2011-12 home hockey schedule and season ticket packages for the 16 game schedule at Lawler Arena. Season tickets start as low as $295 for adults and $195 for youths and seniors. A limited number of Blue Line Club memberships, which include preferred center-ice seating, VIP parking, a buffet dinner for all home games, and access to away game tickets, are also available for purchase. For the first time, Merrimack is also sponsoring a faculty and staff special season ticket price of $80 for preferred reserved seating. Fans…

Lady Knights Lax Falls to Andover

North Andover was unable to keep pace with Andover's offense.

Going into last night’s big match-up between Andover and North Andover, the teams had lost a combined three games and won 32. However, coming out of last night’s game it was clear that the best girls lacrosse team in the Merrimack Valley wore blue and gold. The host Warriors turned a two-goal lead midway through the first half into a nine-goal runaway as Andover breezed past the Scarlet Knights 14-5 last night at Lovely Field. “We prepared what we thought would be an effective game for us,” North Andover coach Karen Lahey said. “Andover’s players are well-coached and they are really strong with their sticks. Knights Softball Battles Andover Today

Check out the weekly schedule for all of North Andover's varsity teams.

The North Andover High School Softball team is 1-1 out of the gate in the 2011 season. Today we will feature the Knights' game against Andover as our North Andover Patch Game of the Week. North Andover started the season off with a dominating performance against Wilmington. The Knights rolled to a 9-0 win against the Wildcats to start the season off exactly a week ago. On Friday, the tables were turned on the Knights. North Andover traveled to Pentucket Regional High for game two of their season and got crushed 12-2. Pentucket jumped out to a 10-1 lead after the first two innings and did not look back. Today at 11:00 a.m., the Knights will make the short trip over to Andover High to take on the Warriors. VIDEO: Knights Fall to Andover in Baseball Season Opener

North Andover scored six runs in the first inning but could not hold onto the lead.

Opening Day 2011 looked promising for North Andover yesterday afternoon, but the Knights fell 11-8 to the Golden Warriors of Andover. North Andover jumped out to a 7-5 lead after two innings. Knights ace Mike Weisman gave up four earned runs in his six innings of work. The senior southpaw settled down before giving up the lead in the top of the sixth. The Knights defense made things tough for him. “You can’t win when you have seven errors,” said Knights coach Todd Dulin. The six run first inning for North Andover seemed as if it would be enough until the Knights collapsed late. Senior Hunter Meservey hit a two run single to make it 3-2. Merrimack Coach Honored, Players Sign with NHL Affiliates

Mark Dennehy was named All-New England Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season; Merrimack seniors Chris Barton and Joe Cucci sign contracts.

Merrimack College hockey coach Mark Dennehy led the Warriors to 25 wins this season, a record for the school’s Division 1 history. Yesterday Dennehy was announced All-New England Coach of the Year. It was the second consecutive season Dennehy was awarded the honor. Dennehy lead the Warriors to other historic feats this season such as advancing to the team’s first ever Hockey East Final. With a convincing 4-1 victory against UNH at TD Garden, the Warriors advanced into uncharted waters. In the Hockey East Final, however, Merrimack fell 5-3 at the hands of the Boston College Eagles. Dennehy led Merrimack to its first NCAA Tournament in 23 years. In a stunning comeback, Notre Dame took down the Warriors 4-3 in a first round overtime thriller…

Season in Review: Merrimack Warriors Set Records, Won Over Fans, and Made History

Merrimack set all kinds of records this season; North Andover Patch takes a look at some of the top games of the 2010-11 season.

The Merrimack College Warriors may have suffered a shocking and heartbreaking loss to end their season on Saturday, but let us not forget that their season was one for the books. The Warriors in 2010-11 were quite simply the best in team in the school's history. Merrimack was able to set new school records in home wins, road wins, and sellouts. Rather than dwelling on the unfortunate end to the Warriors’ season, let’s take a look at the team’s best home wins and sellouts. Merrimack's Marvelous Season Ends in Catastrophe

The Warriors relinquished two separate two goal leads and fell 4-3 in overtime to the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.

Merrimack College’s best season in school history ended in catastrophe last night at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester. The Warriors, who held two goal leads on two occasions, gave up three unanswered goals and relinquished a seemingly inevitable Elite Eight berth to the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Merrimack went up 3-1 in the second period on freshman Rhett Bly’s swift goal through the legs of Notre Dame goalie Mike Johnson. Before long, the Warriors found themselves in sudden death overtime after a poor third period. The Merrimack Warriors woke up from their third period slumber to dominate the first five minutes of the overtime period. The Warriors peppered shots on net to no avail despite completely regaining the momentum. …

Hockey Showdown: Knights and Warriors Knot at Three

North Andover was 92 seconds away from an incredible upset, but Andover tied it with under ten seconds remaining.

Derek Hunter and the Scarlet Knights celebrated 92 seconds too early on Monday afternoon. Hosting their archrivals from Andover, the Knights were on the cusp of a phenomenal upset over their rivals. “We were thinking about this game all season,” said Hunter. The Knights went into the third period down 2-1 and were hungry to show the pumped up crowd that they could play with Division I Andover. Knights junior Richard O’Connor scored in the third period to tie things at two which set up a barn burner of a finish. Defenseman Nick Pino fired a shot in on Andover goalie Kyle Berthiaume who gave up a long rebound.
