Parade starts at noon.
Thanksgiving is done, and that means the kick-off of the Christmas season. In North Andover, today that means the Santa Parade. Here are five things to keep in mind: 1. Where/When: The parade will assemble at about 11 a.m. at North Andover Middle School and start its march down Main Street at noon. the parade will proceed down Main Street to Elm Street, to Water Street and back onto Main Street, and it will end at the intersection of Main Street and Sutton Street. Unlike last year -- when it was almost 75 degrees during the parade -- it's expected to be cold outside so dress for winter. 2. Grand Marshall: This year, the parade will have a Grand Marshall, Selectman Don Stewart. Grand Marshall Stewart will be riding in a convertible at the …
Start your holiday shopping at locally owned stores during Small Business Saturday.
Small Business Saturday is on Nov. 24 this year, two days after Thanksgiving. It is a day for everyone to support the small businesses that their community thrives on. American Express founded the day in 2010 to help small businesses get exposure during the holiday season, when they might be otherwise overlooked. With retailers buzzing around the holidays, it is important to support local small businesses that rely on their neighbors in order to continue prospering and building the local economy in North Andover. Last year, 100 million people nationwide participated in Small Business Saturday by shopping at locally owned stores to help boost the economy and their communities. Many North Andover businesses are participating, as you can see …

Just what is Small Business Saturday and why should you support it in North Andover.
Big name national retailers take the spotlight on Black Friday as their deep price cuts pull in shoppers in droves. What about those mom-and-pop businesses all over North Andover and beyond that are the backbone of America’s economy? Just when do they get their day? That’s basically the question that was asked back in 2010 when the concept of Small Business Saturday was born. Small Business Saturday is “a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities,” the U.S. Small Business Administration explains on its website. American Express gets the credit for founding the shopping holiday, which got its official start on Nov. 27, 2010, according to the Small Business Saturday Facebook page. Celebrating its …

Let us know what your business is offering customers this year, and upload photos.
Thursday is Thanksgiving, and that means the following days will be devoted to shopping. Black Friday is Nov. 23, and Small Business Saturday is Nov. 24. For some, that means rushing to the malls and big box stores to stand in line for bargains. But for many, it also means looking for local, small business shopping opportunities. The big companies have their deals advertised all over the place, but we want to give local businesses a chance to get the word out. Do you run a North Andover business? What deals are you offering this Friday and Saturday to boost traffic in your store? Leave a comment and let everyone know. You can also upload photos of your store and/or merchandise to this post.
