North Andover Police Officers Join Caravan to Virginia to Visit Boy With Cancer

More than 40 police departments, including that of North Andover, departed from the Burlington Mall Wednesday morning to deliver cards to 6-year-old Nathan Norman in Rustburg, Virginia.

The only thing on Dawn Norman's wish list this holiday season is that her 6-year old son Nathan lives to see another Christmas—and that his wish of receiving cards, letters and patches from as many police officers, fire fighters and EMTs as possible is fulfilled. Why? Because police officers, fire fightesr and EMTs happen to be Nathan's heroes. As reported on New Milford Patch, Nathan was diagnosed with brain cancer three years ago. He lives with his family in Rustburg, Va. "I remember the doctor saying that there was an abnormality," Dawn Norman remembers. "The doctor kept telling me over and over that there was an abnormality and then it hit me. He was telling me that my son had cancer." Like most little boys, Nathan loves to watch cops…

Four Lawrence Teens Arrested for Stolen Car

Police were able to stop and arrest them without a chase.

If there's one lesson four Lawrence teens probably learned this week -- other than not to steal a car -- it's not to crank up the radio in a stolen car in the middle of the night. At about 2:40 a.m. Sunday, North Andover Police Officer Jason Wedge noticed a red Mitsubishi driving along Osgood Street with loud music blaring. He ran a plate check and saw that the car was reported by Lawrence Police as stolen. Wedge called in the situation and officers William Brush, Joseph Kamal and Eric Sewade jumped into stealth mode to corner the vehicle. When the car took a right onto Foulds Terrace, the police put on their lights and sirens and the suspects had nowhere to go. "It was great teamwork on part of the shift," Lt. Charles Gray said. "They got…
