Police Log

Another Rash of Car Breaks

The following information was supplied by the North Andover Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

It seems there was another string of car break-ins Wednesday night. About a dozen residents awoke Thursday to find that their vehicles had been broken into and rummaged through (and in some cases, items were stolen) overnight, according to police reports. There were four vehicles broken into on Chadwick Street. And also on Chadwick Street, there was a report of a car stolen overnight as well. The other vehicle break-ins were on Barker Street; Moody Street (two vehicles); Hickory Hill Road (three vehicles); Surrey Drive; and French Farm Road. Residents are urged to keep vehicle doors locked, keep valuables out of their vehicles and watch for suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. Also in other local police news... Weekend Break Suspects Were Teens

The following information was supplied by the North Andover Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Remember that weekend break-in that spurred a manhunt? It turns out the suspects were teens. At just after 6 p.m., police received a call by a concerned resident on Bixby Avenue  about people in her neighbor's home. Police said the homeowner then spotted the suspects as they were fleeing, and they struck him with a car. Luckily, he was not injured. By the time police arrived, the suspects fled the area. And shortly afterward police reportedly passed the suspect's vehicle on Route 125. Police persued the suspect's vehicle, and the vehicle went into Andover, where police were able to stop him just over the town line, an Andover Police spokesman said. Sushi Theft and Man Jumping at Cars

The following are excepts from the North Andover Police log. At 6:04 p.m., Market Basket reported a theft of sushi and hot dogs from that store. At 9:19 p.m., Jacob Schmidt, 27, of 130 Laconia Circle, North Andover, was stopped near the intersection of Salem Street and Sharpners Pond Road and charged with possession of a class A substance and possession of a class E substance. At 5:13 p.m., a caller reported that his car window was broken into at choice Fitness, and his laptop was stolen. Kohl's Shoplifting and Market Basket Drug Bust

The following are excepts from the North Andover Police log. At 10:15 p.m., Kohl's reported that female shoplifters were trying to run out of the building. Yris Lantigua Garcia, 52, of 53 Lexington St., Lawrence; Beatriz Caceres, 30, of 17 Washington St. Apt. 1, Lawrence; and Katerine Duran, 23, of 11 Lawrence St. Apt. 707, Lawrence, were all charged with larceny and conspiracy. At 7:39 a.m., a caller reported that there were a lot of people in the road at the intersection of Sharpners Pond Road and Turnpike Street. The people were gone when police arrived. The following are excepts from the North Andover Police log. At 6:46 p.m., Kohl's reported a shoplifter. Police will summons the suspect. At 10:31 p.m., Kohl's reported a shoplifter. Police will summons the suspect. At 9 a.m., a caller reported seeing a black and white boxer near the intersection of Boxford Street and Salem Street. Police did not find the dog. At 10:50 a.m., a police officer saw a yellow lab running in and out of traffic near the intersection of Pleasant Street and Stevens Street. Police did not catch the dog. At 3:06 p.m., a caller on Walker Road reported that her husband was arguing with a landscaper. Police went to the scene, and peace was restored. The following are excepts from the North Andover Police log. At 7:05 a.m., a caller on Saunders Street reported that his car was broken into overnight. At 7:13 a.m., a caller on Marbleridge Road reported that his vehicle was broken into overnight. At 7:32 a.m., a caller on Berrington Place reported that three vehicles were broken into overnight. At 9:03 a.m., a caller reported seeing a person driving a vehicle throw a bag of trash out their window at the intersection of Turnpike Street and Willow Avenue. Police stopped the vehicle in question near North Andover High School. Peter Crowley, 27, of 47 Forest St., Middleton, was charged in relation to multiple court warrants. Rash of Car Breaks Reported

Make sure you lock your car doors at night. On Thursday morning, police received about a dozen reports of vehicles being entered overnight. Some had items and change missing, others had nothing missing. There were several such reports from Bradstreet Road and Second Street, as well as some from Morris Street, Chestnut Street and Timber Lane. Ironically, the beloved start of spring is often the start of personal theft season. People are out walking around at night including vandals and thieves. In Wednesday night's incidents, the vehicles were left unlocked. Residents are advised to keep their vehicle doors locked even when they're home. Also in local police news...
