The battle for the 6th District seat is over.
Congressman John Tierney has defeated Republican challenger Richard Tisei in an extremely tight race for Massachusetts 6th District congressional seat. This has been an unusually high-profile congressional race in Massachusetts, which is considered a stronghold for House Democrats. Tierney suffered from the impact of a family scandal involving his wife, her brother and her brother’s illegal offshore gambling business. Tisei, on the other hand, climbed to popularity with his aggressive campaign, his theme of bipartisanship and his years of serving in the state legislature. He out-raised Tierney in campaign donations every quarter. Tisei made Tierney’s family legal scandal a focus of the campaign, calling Tierney’s credibility into question…

I used to live in Massachusetts, and I know how idiotic the voters there are--they keep voting in the same slimy, paid off criminals year after year. I hope you enjoy all the higher taxes, higher unemployment, higher energy costs, inflation and misery coming everyone's way now that you dumb democrats have reelected an inept, progressive, socialist liberal president hell bent on making "everyone …   more ›

The election is less than two weeks away. In the Massachusetts Sixth District, voters will decide who their next congressman will be. Incumbent Democrat John Tierney is in an intense race against Republican challenger Richard Tisei and Libertarian Daniel Fishman. The campaign has gained national attention. Legal drama involving Tierney's inlaws, Tierney campaign talk of Tisei having radical right-wing connections, and the emergence of Fishman's outside-the-box third party effort have made the race eventful, to say the least. All this, in the midst of a federal budget crisis, Medicare, student loans, abortion, high unemployment and more. We want to know what issue is the biggest deciding factor in your vote in the 6th District race. Discuss…

Congressman John Tierney has been endorsed by the Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts. Members of the group gathered in Lynn to announce their endorsement. “The Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts are proud to endorse Congressman John Tierney, a true voice for firefighters and the working class," said Edward Kelly, president of the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts. “Firefighters are on the job today in cities like Lynn because of the efforts of Congressman Tierney and his steadfast support of SAFER grant funding. He understands the crucial federal programs necessary to help us do our job and keep the public safe. We look forward to working with him on the campaign trail on through victory Nov. 6.” The Professional …
Will it have impact on the race?
Republican congressional candidate Richard Tisei has picked up the endorsement of the state's largest newspaper, The Boston Globe. The Globe cited Congressman John Tierney's family legal issues combined with Tisei's politically moderate nature: "Tierney’s family scandal — and his evasive handling of it — gives voters a reason to look elsewhere. Meanwhile, he has an appealing Republican challenger, a moderate who served with distinction as minority leader in the state Senate. This year, Sixth District voters should elect that challenger, Richard Tisei." The editorial says that while Tisei is further to the right than the majority of voters on some issues -- citing his call to repeal the Affordable Care Act -- the newspaper says that he …

Richard is the right man for the job. Honest, caring and bi-partisan. This was not a hard call, so many Democrats are seeing the light and are calling out corrupt representatives. Both sides need to do more, wrong doesn't become right by virtue of the letter carried after the name. I hope Mr Tierney enjoys retirement, maybe he could spend it as his wife...............jail.   more ›
Who's your pick for congressman?
The election is just a couple weeks away, and the race for Massachusetts' 6th District congressional seat has gained national attention. Incumbent Democratic Congressman John Tierney is facing off against Republican Richard Tisei and Libertarian Daniel Fishman. We want to know what people in North Andover think. Who's your pick in the congressional election?
The congressman called his opponent "shameless" and "irrelevant."
Democratic Congressman John Tierney brought sharpened teeth to debate with Republican opponent Richard Tisei on NECN Thursday, and he wasted no time digging in. Just one day after the 6th District congressional candidates gathered in North Andover for a debate, the two appeared on "The Broadside" with Jim Braude and left most of the pleasantries at the door. Tierney faces an intense battle for reelection, with many polls showing Tisei either ahead of him or surging upward, and the eight-term congressman worked to aggressively take his opponent down a few notches Thursday -- attacking his decades-long state legislator record and calling him "shameless." Video of the entire debate can be watched on NECN's Web site. Early on, the focus was …

A combustable temperment for certain.. almost as if Tierney's zipper was hemmed upside down. And was that the best slime that he could uncover.. that Tisei burned the macaroons? Really now. Tierney has achieved something that few politicians ever have before - made himself unworthy even of his own low standards. macaroons   more ›
The event was hosted by the Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Candidates in the Massachusetts 6th District congressional race -- Incumbent Democratic Congressman John Tierney, Republican Richard Tisei and Libertarian Daniel Fishman -- gathered at North Andover High School to debate issues important to voters. Hosted by the Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce and moderated by Chairman Sal Lupoli, the debate lasted about an hour and focused on issues relating to small business and job growth. In what may at this point seem like a surprise, the debate focused on policy issues instead of personal issues. Tierney's wife Patrice and her family legal issues were not even mentioned. Tierney faces an intense battle for reelection, as many polls have showed Tisei either ahead of him or surging upward. And …

The Seinfeld character is being used in a new Tisei ad.
Just when you thought the heated 6th District congressional race couldn't get weirder, in walks George Costanza. A new video ad by Republican Richard Tisei's campaign features a scene from the popular 1990s TV show "Seinfeld," in which George Costanza tells Jerry Seinfeld, "It's not a lie if you believe it." The ad then shows Congressman John Tierney telling a reporter that Republicans "are anti-human rights, anti-women wights, they are anti-middle class." The video ad is in response to Tierney's latest ad attacking Tisei as being a right-wing extremist and supporting right-wing views on social issues. Tisei's record, however, shows a moderate -- if not fairly liberal -- history on social issues. During his time in the State Senate, he …
