North Andover Weekend: Jazz, Ballet and Hayrides

Your local guide to weekend fun.

Weather will be slightly unpredictable on Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures in the low 80s and rain showers possible. But don't worry, there are things to do indoors and outdoors this weekend.

Smolak Farms: This popular farm is continuing its Fall Festival this weekend, with face painting, hayrides, complimentary games and crafts in the barn, a bouncy house, and more.

Music at Edgewood: Edgewood Retirement Community will host "Chamber Music & the Great American Songbook: From Guiliani to Jazz," Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Edgewood Clubhouse Auditorium. The Peter H. Bloom/Mark Leighton flute and guitar duo will perform chamber music by Italian composer Mauro Giuliani, Argentinian tango virtuoso Astor Piazzolla, George Gershwin, Duke Ellington and others.

Nutcracker Auditions: The Northeast Youth Ballet, under the artistic direction of Denise Cecere, will hold open auditions Sunday for its 2013 Holiday Classic "The Nutcracker," at Northeast School of Ballet, 32 Lowell St., Reading. Different age groups will audition at different times, so check the schedule before going.

More Music: On Sunday, the Merrimack Valley Philharmonic Orchestra will have its "Pops Concert" at 2:30 p.m. at the Rogers Center for the Arts at Merrimack College. The afternoon will feature Timberlane High School student violinist Paul Cronin, and his sister Sarah Cronin.
