National Pet Sitting Week March 2-8th

How to Hire a Qualified Pet Care Provider

VACATION.....After this crazy winter weather  PLAN A TRIP !!    Why not..  Go away...

Have pets?  Well,  as you're booking your trips, please don't forget to book your pet care.   Start your research now and develop a relationship with a local pet care provider.  This will ensure you and your provider have a solid understanding of your expectations and of  your pet's routine.

There are several well established and qualified businesses in the Merrimack Valley that offer pet sitting services.  Please book ahead as many spots fill up quickly, especially during school vacations and holidays.

Take the time to get to know your pet care provider.  This person will be taking care of your furry friends and entering your home.   You need to feel comfortable with this person and trust he/she has your pet's best interest at heart.  You  must also feel confident you can trust this person in your home.

The pet care provider you hire must be reliable:   I've been working in pet care for over 12yrs and  have tackled hurricanes, snowstorms, power outages and floods. Mother Nature and I have had our differences but in the end we both understand the pets still need to be cared for.

If you are looking for a pet care provider here are a couple helpful tips:
1. Insured & Bonded
2. Registered Business with the town
3. CPR certified
4. Accomplished and established in the industry and the community

Common questions to ask:
1. What type of animal experience does the person have? ( holding a leash doesn't count)
2. How many dogs will be walked together at the same time
3. Who will have the key/access to your home
4. Is the business affiliated with any organizations within the pet/business industry
5. References

Pet Sitters International is one of the top business organizations in the pet care industry. They have announced this week is National Pet Sitting Week - a week dedicated to the hardworking and loving people that care for your pets.
