God Bless ~ America's Vet Dogs Veterans K-9 Corp

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA

Anyone that knows my passion for working dogs, respect for our Military and appreciation for being born a Citizen of the United States of America, is never surprised when I mention that one of my favorite organizations is America’s VetDogs Veterans K-9 Corp.

America’s VetDogs Veteran’s K9 Corps

Being a proud supporter of police, military and fire K-9, I am always totally thrilled to share information on this organization.   America’s VetDogs is an organization that provides service dogs to our disabled veterans.   Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind started their organization in 1946. However, with an aging veteran population and more and more military personnel returning home with life changing injuries and disabilities, they realized they needed to provide additional resources for these veterans.  This organization decided not only to offer guide dogs for the blind but they wanted to be able to help disabled veterans with service dogs.

Service dogs help provide an injured or disabled person with the freedom to live an independent lifestyle.   Most people with service dogs are able to gain employment, go the store, travel, and basically live a traditional every day life as much as possible.  The dogs help give this person the confidence needed to transition back into society.

Helping those who have served our country honorably to live with dignity and independence whether they are visually impaired or have other special needs, by using guide dogs, service dogs, and innovative technologies.”

The Need to Generate Awareness for America’s VetDogs:

Thomas P. Staudt, chairman, America’s VetDogs: “The impact that a VetDog has on improving the quality of life for their disabled veteran is profound.  But the need to provide more support dogs to a greater number of disabled veterans is even more profound. Getting the word out to a disabled veteran whom you may know is in need or creating greater awareness that such a support program as America’s VetDogs exists is important for each of us as concerned and involved citizens. We must do what we can to these deserving men and women who have given so much for their country.”

As an American I thought to myself, what a beautiful gift to give to the Veterans that fought so hard for us.  Massachusetts and especially the Merrimack Valley, have several of our family members and neighbors enlisted in the military.  We all know someone who has returned or is currently overseas.  We have or will know a veteran who will be injured.  Why not help them for helping us !    If you know a veteran that may benefit from a service dog please reach out to America’s VetDog for further assistance.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA ….and to all of you, your families and your PETS…have a wonderful and safe 4th of July !
