Semifinal Showdowns Next for Knights

Today, the boys tennis team will host Cambridge at 3:30 p.m. The Knights had a grueling and emotional to advance into the semifinal round.

Before that, it was a 5-0 crushing of Malden Catholic that advanced North Andover into the quarterfinals.

Cambridge has upset their way through the playoffs. They beat Gloucester 4-1 and then Central Catholic 3-2 in the quarterfinals.

The sixth seeded Knights are 14-4. Cambridge, the 10th seed, is 14-7.

The winner of today’s match will advance into the MIAA Division 2 North Final. The opponent will be Winchester who beat Burlington to advance. The final will be at the Billerica Boys & Girls Club tomorrow afternoon at 3:30.

Baseball

Tomorrow at 7:00, the Knights will travel to Lynn to face Gloucester in the MIAA Division 2 North Semifinals.

The game will be held at historic Fraser Field, which was briefly home to the Boston Red Sox in the late 1940s.

North Andover has been crushing its opponents lately. An in the first round propelled the Knights into the quarterfinals. Then a advanced the Knights into the final.

Gloucester upset its way through the tournament. Gloucester beat Triton 4-0 in the first round and took out Beverly 6-2 to make it this far.

Gloucester is 12-10 on the year. They come in as the 13th seed in the tournament. North Andover is the top seeded team with a record of 21-1. The Knights are on a 21 game winning streak.

Thursday’s winner will advance into the Division 2 North Championship game. That will be held at LaLacheur Park in Lowell. LaLacheur Park is home to the Lowell Spinners, a minor league affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.

On the other side of the bracket, Lynn Classic and Danvers do battle today with the winner advancing into the final. The final is scheduled for Saturday.
