Merrimack's Lyons and Pasquantonio Named All-Region by IWLCA

Merrimack College's Liz Lyons were named second-team all-region on Monday by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Lyons, a finalist for Merrimack Female Athlete of the Year, graduated on Sunday as a four-time all-conference selection. She led the country in caused turnovers and was tied for second in the conference in ground balls. A senior captain, Lyons set the school record for ground balls in a season and a career. This is the second straight year she earned all-region honors.

Pasquantonio, a two-time all-conference second-team selection, led Merrimack in goals and was second in points. Second in the conference in free-position goals, she was also second on the team in draw controls and ground balls.

Merrimack finished 2011 in fourth place in the conference with a 12-7 record, reaching the semifinals for the third straight season.
