Merrimack Hockey Unveils Promotional Schedule

Homecoming, Toys for Tots, and Skating with Santa are some of the promotional events for the 2011-12 season.

The Merrimack hockey program has announced its 2011-12 34-game schedule and its promotional calendar for the 17-game home schedule.

Headlining the schedule, Merrimack will honor former Warrior hockey player and exceptional student Chic Kelly on November 23 against Alabama-Huntsville by donating a portion of the proceeds from all ticket sales to his foundation. Chic’s foundation provides awareness and support for those with spinal cord injuries and funding towards finding a cure. Donations will also be accepted for the Friends and Family of Chic Kelly foundation on game day. More information on the Chic’s Foundation can be found at chickelly.com.

The Warriors open the home schedule against Army on October 15, and members of the Armed Forces will receive $5 tickets as part of the Wounded Warrior Project.

Merrimack will host Northeastern and Connecticut during Homecoming Weekend on October 21-22. Before the UConn game on Saturday, Merrimack will host a pre-game festival for fans, friends and alums. Stay tuned for the location and start time.

The Warriors will host its annual Toys for Tots event when Vermont visits North Andover on December 7. Fans will receive a special $5 ticket when they bring an unwrapped toy to the game which will be presented to the Lawrence Boys & Girls Club during the holiday season.

Merrimack’s annual Skate with Santa event is scheduled for December 17 against Union (4 p.m.). All kids who bring their own skates can skate with the members of the hockey team following the game. Free cookies and hot chocolate will also be provided.

Maine will visit North Andover to open the 2012 home schedule on January 13-14 in a rematch of the Hockey East Quarterfinals. While ticket packages for the weekend will be available for walk-up only during the week of the game, limited t-shirts will available to fans before Saturday’s game as part of Warrior Whiteout Weekend.

Youth promotions take center stage against New Hampshire on January 20 and Providence on January 29. Against UNH, all youths wearing a hockey jersey from their team will receive a $5 general admission ticket, while the third annual Kids Fest, featuring inflatables, hockey contests, and other free prizes headlines the 4 p.m. start against the Friars.

Back by popular demand, Merrimack will host Rally Towel Night against Boston University on February 3, before hosting its first-ever Social Media Day against UNH on the 11th.

With Blue Line memberships sold out and season tickets being sold at a record pace, mini plan packages will be announced and go on sale on August 22. Tickets to individual games go on sale September 6.

After winning a Division I school record 25 games, advancing to its first-ever Hockey East Championship and earning a NCAA Tournament bid for the first time since 1988, Merrimack opens the 2011-12 campaign at Maine on October 7. Other non-conference away games include at Colgate on December 10 and against St. Lawrence in the Ledyard Classic in Dartmouth, NH on December 30.
