Knights Soccer Starts Preseason Saturday

The boys soccer team is looking to improve on a great 2010 season.

Welcome to the second installment of our Scarlet Knights fall sports season preview. Today we look at the North Andover High School boys soccer team.

The Knights are coming off a fantastic but heartbreaking season. The regular season saw the Knights finish 11-4-3.

In the 2010 MIAA Division 2 playoffs, North Andover was able earn the sixth seed and a bye in the preliminary round of the tournament.

At one point in the season, on the Boston Globe’s poll.

"It's a nice tribute to our team," said head coach William Tarbox of the ranking. "That sort of reflects that fact that they are respecting us, the Globe."

The Knights scored two goals to win two tournament games and enter into the semi-finals against Concord Carlisle.

A 1-0 victory against Wayland saw Evan Boudreau score the game winner. Evan Eudney scored in a to push the Knights into the semi-finals.

Against a tough Concord-Carlisle squad, the and lost their shot at the north championship game.

The boys will kick off their season with a practice on Thursday. They have five scrimmages scheduled. Here is a look at the Knights preseason schedule:

The highlight of the preseason will be a rematch of last year's north semi-finals when the Knights host Concord Carlisle. 

The regular season will get underway for the Knights on Sept. 8. The Knights travel to Haverhill for a 3:45pm season opener.

Other dates to circle on the calendar include a Saturday matinee at Andover on Sept. 17.

The Knights play Masconomet on Sept. 19 at home and again on Thursday, Oct. 27 to close out the regular season.
