Knights Lax Marches Passed Falmouth

The North Andover boys live to play another day in the MIAA East Tourney.

The Knights lacrosse team made quite a journey down south to Falmouth, Massachusetts for their tournament preliminary matchup against Falmouth High School.

North Andover came in as the underdog with their number 18 seed and their 10-8 record.

Meanwhile the Falmouth High School squad owned the 15th seed and a 12-7 record.

All the stats were thrown out the window yesterday afternoon as the Scarlet Knights got down to business down on the Cape.

The Knights got out to a 1-0 lead after the first quarter. The two teams had two goals apiece in the second quarter. North Andover held a 3-2 lead after the first half.

The second half was literally all Knights.

The third quarter proved to be the defining moment for both squads as the Knights outscored Falmouth 3-0. The fourth quarter was scoreless, and North Andover prevailed with a 6-2 win.

Jim Warden had a pair of goals for the Knights. Dante Querci, Nick Pino, Nate Hitchcock, and Jack Murphy all put the ball in the net for North Andover. Warden and Murphy also recorded assists. John Boyle also recorded an assist in the game.

Cosmo Capobianco had a strong nine save effort for the Knights in goal.

On Friday afternoon, the Knights will travel to Concord-Carlisle for a 5:00 p.m. game in the MIAA Divison 2 East first round.

North Andover, the  number 18 seed, will be a heavy underdog against Concord-Carlisle, the #2 seed. Concord-Carlisle finished their season with only a single loss. They were 16-1 in 2011.

North Andover has yet to have faced Concord-Carlisle this season. Friday afternoon will mark their first matchup of 2011.
