Knights Basketball Tips Off Next Week
The NAHS boys and girls basketball teams are coming off phenomenal years.
Boys Basketball
Last year’s season was a strong one for the Knights.
Mike McVeigh’s squad when 17-5 and finally fell in the Division 2 North Quarterfinals at the end of the season. McVeigh is in his 30th year coaching the squad.

North Andover has most of its starting lineup returning. Senior guard will return to lead the Knights. Bringing the ball up will be Colby Smith, also a senior. Sharpshooting Derek Collins is also back as a junior. He is recovering from back surgery and should be healthy enough to start the season.
Mike Moroney is a senior captain. At 6-5 he is expected to play center.

The Knights will play their first regular season game of the season at home against Masconomet. The game is on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 7pm. North Andover High School will host the game. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors.
The Knights will then set their sights towards the Greater Lawrence Christmas Tournament. On Dec. 24, North Andover takes on Salem, NH at Lawrence High.
Girls Basketball
After a remarkable season, the girls team lost in the Division 2 North Semifinals to eventual state champions Arlington Catholic. The team went 18-5 last year.
The Lady Knights will only see two starters return. , a 5-8 junior, is one of the best girls to ever come out of the North Andover program. With her on the floor, the Knights always have a chance as she proved during North Andover’s run last year.
Julia Titone, a senior forward with a strong shot, will also be relied on for much of the scoring. Titone is a captain along with seniors Alex Medlock and Jillian Madden.
Coach Susan Breen will be behind the bench for her 13th year. Her team’s season gets underway on Friday, Dec. 16. North Andover will host Billerica at 7pm. Admission to the game is $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors.
Like the boys, the Knights will then look towards the Greater Lawrence Christmas Tournament. That gets underway on Dec. 22 when the Knights host Pinkerton Academy. That game gets underway at 3:30pm.
