Knights Baseball Starts Playoff Run Today

Dracut High School visits NAHS for a 4 p.m. playoff game.

The Cape Ann League champions of 2011 are primed and ready for a playoff run.

Just under a week ago, North Andover’s southpaw ace Mike Weisman hurled a strong game to help North Andover win its first Lawrence Invitational Tournament since 1986.

On Memorial Day, the Knights improved their record to 19-1 and won their 19th straight game by beating their rival team from Masconomet Regional High School. Since then, the Knights have had Tuesday and Wednesday to prepare for today’s MIAA North Division 2 First Round game.

At 4:00 p.m. today, the Knights host Dracut High School. The Knights hold the top seed in the tournament while Dracut has the 16th seed. Dracut’s record is 8-12 entering the tournament.

The winner of today’s game will move into the Quarter-Final round and play their next game on Monday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. The winner of tonight’s Melrose vs. Arlington game will take on the winner of today’s game at North Andover High.

Today

At North Andover High, the baseball Knights get their playoff run underway against Dracut. The game is at 4:00 p.m.

Tomorrow

The boys tennis team starts its playoff run against Malden Catholic. The match is at NAHS at 3:30 p.m.

The girls tennis team travelts to Concord-Carlisle High School to start their playoff run. Their match gets underway at 3:30 p.m.

The boys lacrosse team, after , also travels to Concord-Carlisle. That first round playoff matchup starts at 4:00 p.m.

O-Zone Lock of the Week

Last week the O-Zone went with the baseball squad for its weekly lock. In the Lawrence Invitational’s first round, the Knights took out the Tewksbury Redmen by the score of 10-2. It was the Knights’ 17th consecutive win.

The O-Zone now has an 11-1 career record predicting Scarlet Knights games.

For its last prediction of the spring season, the O-Zone is calling for a win by the baseball Knights over Dracut today. Should the Knights prevail, the spring season would end with the O-Zone getting its 12th correct prediction.
