Knights Await Saturday Showdowns

North Andover's big tennis and baseball games were postponed from yesterday to Saturday.

Baseball

The baseball team was scheduled to play at the historic Fraser Field for its MIAA Division 2 North Semifinal against Gloucester yesterday. Severe thunderstorms postponed the game until tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

The venue has also changed. Lowell’s LaLacheur Park will host the game. The home of the Lowell Spinners is no stranger to high school baseball as it hosts the annual every May.

Gloucester snuck through the tournament as the 13th seed. In the first round they blanked fourth ranked Triton 4-0. In the quarterfinals they beat Beverly 6-2. Their season record to date is only 12-10.

Meanwhile the Knights are arguably Division Two’s best team this year. North Andover has won every single game this season except for their. Since then, the Knights have ripped off 21 straight victories including playoff wins against and .

The winner of Saturday’s game advances into the North Finals against Lynn Classical.

Boys Tennis

Severe thunderstorms also caused the MIAA Division 2 North Team Tennis Championship to be delayed until Saturday.

North Andover will battle with Winchester High School with the title on the line. Winchester is the tournament’s number one seed. They come into Saturday’s matchup with a record of 18-2.

The Knights are the tournament’s sixth seed and they have a record of 15-4. The Knights have three playoff wins this year against , , and that have brought them this far.

The location and time of Saturday’s championship match is expected to be announced by the MIAA today. Once this information is released, Patch will have it posted on its homepage.
