Knights and Wildcats Will Share Cape Ann League Championship

Knights beat Hamilton-Wenham; North Andover and Wilmington tie for Cape Ann League crown.

The Knights beat Hamilton-Wenham by a ten spot on Monday night to clinch a share of the Cape Ann League Title.

The final score was 69-59.

The will share the honor of being 2010-11 Cape Ann League Champions as they each finished the regular season with 11-2 league records.

Monday’s win helped the Knights close out their regular season at a 16-4 clip.

Leading the Knights was Derek Collins whose 20 points set the pace for North Andover. He drained four three-pointers in the process.

Knights captain Zach Karalis was right there with him scoring 15 points of his own. Isaiah Nelson had 13 points as North Andover came away with an impressive road win.

North Andover will have a brief rest before the MIAA announces the schedule for the upcoming annual State Tournament.

The Knights are coming off a blowout of monumental proporations as they took down Chelmsford 73-32 on Sunday afternoon at North Andover High School.

North Andover clinched the Cape Ann League Championship when they edged out a 48-44 win against Masco on Friday night.

The takes the ice tonight at 7:50 p.m. when they battle Masconomet. The Knights have already clinched a berth in the MIAA State Tournament but will be in search of more points to ensure that they do not have to play a preliminary game in the tournament.

O-Zone Lock of the Week

Derek Collins and the boys basketball team helped the O-Zone get back to its winning ways.

The O-Zone predicted a Knights win against their archrivals from Masconomet Regional and North Andover came through with a 55-48 win Friday night.

Collins hit three three-pointers and totaled 16 points. Jimmy Warden equaled the game-high total with 16 points of his own.

The O-Zone has a 3-1 record predicting Scarlet Knights games.
