Baseball and Tennis Knights Set for Quarterfinal Action
Both squads have quarterfinal games today in their respective MIAA Tournaments.
The last two teams standing for the Scarlet Knights in the MIAA Playoffs are the baseball squad and the tennis team. Both are in action today.
The North Andover Nine will take on Melrose High at 4:00 p.m. today. North Andover, winners of 20 straight games, earned the number one seed in the MIAA Division 2 North Tournament. The Knights’ record is 20-1. North Andover used an to advance into the quarterfinal round.
Meanwhile, Melrose comes into the game as the eighth seed in the tournament. Melrose edged Arlington 5-3 to qualify for the quarters. The win improved Melrose to 15-8 on the season.

Junior righty is expected to get the start for North Andover. Today’s winner moves into the semifinals against the winner of Gloucester vs. Beverly which also takes place today. The sectional championship game will be held at LeLacheur Park in Lowell, home of the Lowell Spinners.
The tennis team used a to move into the quarterfinal round of the MIAA Division 2 North Tournament. The sixth seeded Knights will take on third seeded Malden this afternoon in Malden. The Knights are 13-4, and Malden is 14-3.
