Amanda Foote: 2011 Female Athlete of the Year

The former three sport captain takes home the inaugural award.

Three sports, no problem.

Amanda Foote began her year on the court, playing point guard for the Scarlet Knights that made a memorable run in the MIAA Division 2 North tournament.

The Knights’ point guard was a team leader and standout. She helped the girls to and , before eventual state champions after a very successful season.

Foote also set incredible times in the 300 and 400 meter hurdles during the spring on the Knights track team. At the New England Championships, she finished the 300 meters in 46.39 seconds.

At the Eastern Massachusetts Division 2 Meet, she helped the Knights finish sixth overall by placing second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 65.02 seconds.

Prior to that, in the Cape Ann League Open, she ran the 400 meter hurdles in 63.51 seconds. That broke an area record and also helped the Knights win the Open with a score of 98 total points.

Foote’s performance in the 4x400 meter relay that May afternoon also helped North Andover clinch a second straight team title.
