The school announced their plans at an evening event for the parents, in which they outlined the need for additional space for their art, music and band programs which have lost dedicated rooms with the growth of the school.

The project has received support from the entire School Board, the faculty and staff s well as a majority of the school families.

“As has always been true, the St. Michael School Community is joining together to address this essential facility need”, said Susan Gosselin, St. Michael School Principal. “Their focus is not about the building, but upon the children who will benefit from this new facility.”

The school plans to complete the unfinished basement in the main part of the schools current basement. The need for expansion was anticipated when the facilities were last expanded in 1998 and unfinished space was reserved to do so.

The goal is to begin construction in June 2012. If the school is able to begin as planned, the new facility will be fully functional by mid-autumn.

The school is still seeking funds. To make a donation for the Fine Arts Center, call the school at 978-686-1862.
