Sargent School Gets September Spruce-Up

Students, parents and Scouts joined hands to do some Autumn cleaning.

is a lot cleaner this week, thanks to a big group effort and a showing of respect.

On Sunday, Sept. 25, more than 90 Scouts, students and parents joined together to clean and beautify the school grounds.

The project was part of Building Respectful Communities and the R.A.I.S.E (Respect, Achievement, Inclusion, Service, and Empathy) initiative.

Participants cleaned up litter, removed weeds from gardens and sidewalks, swept sand, decorated pumpkins and cornstalks and planted flowers. Scouts also cleared trees, brush and undergrowth from the school’s Woodland Study Area, a forested area next to the school used as an outdoor science classroom.

Several area businesses and professionals contributed to the clean-up effort including Peter Breen, Rogers Spring Hill Garden & Farm Center, Sudbury Taylor Rental.
