Losing a Friend

There is a silence today for the void left after we have lost a dear friend and fellow Rotarian, Steve Daly. Steve was an exemplary Rotarian who served since the inception of our North Andover Rotary Club in 2002. Rotary has many wonderful members who give so much in the spirit of 'service above self and our North Andover Club has been very blessed with one such member, Steve Daly.

Steve stood out in his involvement and represented the heart and engine of our club. There is an overwhelming sense of loss knowing that Steve was taken suddenly from life on November 21st, 2013.

Steve truly embodied the giving and sacrificing spirit that is Rotary.  Steve was a charter member of the Club and currently served on the Board of Directors and as club Treasurer and Chair of our Fundraising Committee and North Andover Calendar Project sales. For the Club, Steve was first to volunteer many times and always gave it everything and more. In addition, Steve introduced ShelterBox heading up the District's effort to spread the word about these disaster relief 'shelter' deliveries that have most recently become homes for survivors in the Philipine's disaster.

Steve’s daughter, Maura, was an outbound student to Ecuador in the Rotary Youth Exchange program as a high school student and she recently visited the Club to reconnect. His wife Anne attended many Rotary events as well. Steve held his head high in service to others and had a positive outlook on life that he lived by every day.

Steve will be sorely missed by his wife and three children as well as by many dear friends, neighbors and Rotarians. He has touched so many and lived his life with an indomitable spirit, lifting others with his passion for giving, and his love of humor, acting, outdoors, and adventure.
