Meet the Candidates: School Committee

Three candidates, one incumbent, vie for two three-year spots on the North Andover School Committee.

The school budget is in crisis. Low revenues and rising costs are forcing some tough decisions, while North Andover schools work to improve their curriculum and test scores. And three candidates for the School Committee want your vote so they can tackle these issues. But there are only two open seats, so you have to decide.

  • Stan Limpert, 63, is the incumbent and chair of the committee seeking a second term. He oversaw North Andover schools transitioning to a trimester schedule as well as the search for, and hiring of, a new superintendent.
  • Brian Gross, 46, is a scientist and systems architect for Philips Healthcare in Andover, teaches karate and serves on the Board of Directors of the North Andover Music Association. He has never run for public office before.
  • Stanley Novak, 46, is a software engineer who seeks to make the School Department more financially efficient. Novak ran for state representative for the 14th Essex district last year but lost the nomination to Kevin Begley, who then lost to incumbent David Torrisi.

In these videos, the candidates tell you in their own words why they feel they should get your vote.
