The Massachusetts Democratic State Committee elected new members on Saturday, and Phil DeCologero of North Andover is among them.
"It's an honor to have been elected out of 15 very qualified candidates," DeColegero said. "I want to use this opportunity to promote Democratic candidates who are small business friendly."
The North Andover Democratic Town Committee named DeCologero at their recent annual scholarship fundraiser.
Current members and North Andover residents Mark DiSalvo and Anna O'Connor automatically reelected to the state committee as well, because they have served on it for more than 20 years.
Members were elected for various categories aimed at having the committee represent racial and gender balance as well as to represent the LGBT community, college students, youth, seniors, people with disabilities, veterans and organized labor.
“Time and again, Massachusetts voters have demonstrated that they like our ideas and our candidates better and that’s because we work hard to make sure that the Massachusetts Democratic Party reflects the Commonwealth,” said Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair John Walsh. “If we want to keep Massachusetts and the nation moving forward, we must start by building a party where everyone is welcome and everyone is represented.”
