8:00 p.m. Polls are closing. Stay tuned for results!

7:55 p.m. A lot of mixed predictions about the outcome. A few disappointed comments about the turnout.

7:50 p.m. A few more cars pulled in. Polls are closing in 10 minutes.

7:30 p.m. Polls close in half an hour. Things have really slowed down to a near stop now. Also, people are being very hush-hush about their vote. They have no problem saying what motivated them to vote, but not who they voted for. Makes for sketchy exit-polling, but gotta respect the privacy of the vote.

7:25 p.m. Joyce Bradshaw says the town can't have its elections in May unless they change the charter, which specifies it be on the last Tuesday in March. It was written that way so the election would be before Town Meeting.

7:23 p.m. Turnout was about 2,500 at 7 p.m., about 14 percent.

7:07 p.m. Candidate Don Stewart and his supporters are holding their signs at the front end of the school's driveway, far away from the other candidates. Stewart has had a contentious race with incumbents Watson and Nardella.

7:05 p.m. School Committee candidate Brian Gross just walked by to vote. Stan Limpert, School Committee chairman and candidate, walked in shortly afterward.

7:00 p.m. There seem to be more students (athletes getting out of practice, etc.) around than voters. One highlight was when a kid threw a penny at the glass door to scare a couple girls. Wow, turnout is slow right now.

6:50 p.m. There's one thing many people seem to agree on at the polls -- general consensus is that North Andover's elections should be moved to May.

6:40 p.m. Turnout was 2,293 -- about 12 percent -- as of 6:15 p.m. Town Clerk Joyce Bradshaw said turnout hasn't been great, but it hasn't been that low, either. Local elections tend to not bring big crowds.

6:30 p.m. We're live! Sitting here at the high school. Turnout looks slow. It's freezing outside. Candidates are holding signs with ski parkas and earmuffs on.
