Dems to Hold Scholarship Breakfast Sunday

Federal, state and local officials will speak.

The North Andover Democratic Town Committee will hold its 26th Annual Scholarship Breakfast on Sunday, March 11, at 9 a.m.  at the

"Important town elections including competitive races for selectmen, School Committee and moderator, and a high level of political activity in our town with the upcoming Presidential election guarantee a fun and well attended event," said Town Committee Co-chair Bryan Hanssen. 

The breakfast provides funds for a scholarship to be awarded to a graduating senior from North Andover. And the Town Committee will name the local Democrat of the Year.

And of course, there's the straw poll.

"Our annual straw poll and the announcement of the North Andover Democrat of the Year remain the highlights of our breakfast," co-Chair John Fouhy said. "In addition we will be offering our local selectmen, School Committee and moderator candidates the opportunity to speak to almost certainly the largest crowd they will see this election season."

Democrats from all over the region will attend, including State Sen. Steve Baddour, State Rep. David Torrisi and Congressman John Tierney. Also invited are Senate candidates Marisa DeFranco, James King and Elizabeth Warren.
