Charlie Baker Visits to Endorse Rhoton

The state representative candidate got a boost from a Republican legend.

Former gubernatorial candidate Charlie Baker visited North Andover Friday night to endorse Republican Karin Rhoton for state representative in the Essex 14th District race.

“I am pleased to endorse Karin Rhoton in her bid for State Representative in the Fourteenth Essex District,” Baker said in a statement. “Karin has been a constant force in her community, putting people before politics, and identifying solutions to some of the most complex issues.”

Baker attended a fundraiser for Rhoton's campaign at Friday night.

Rhoton, a conservative Republican running on a message of transparency on Beacon Hill, is preparing for what is sure to be a heated battle for the Essex 14th seat, currently held by State Rep. David Torrisi. Torrisi is busy with a primary for now, against Methuen's Diana DiZoglio.

Baker ran for governor in 2010 and lost to incumbent Deval Patrick despite attracting a large following. His running mate, Richard Tisei, is now running for Congress against John Tierney.
