UPDATE: NAPD 911 Restored

Many residents have service again.

Many in town have their Verizon service back after a frustrating couple days without it.

The emergency 911 line was restored to service this afternoon, but the business line was still out. 911 calls had been routed through the State Police barracks in Andover, but now local 911 dispatch is operational.

Residents on Salem Street are reporting that their service has been restored. Residents in the Route 125 area near Route 114 have reported that service has been restored in that area.

Verizon issued a statement earlier promising to have crews working around the clock but that the restoration work is taking so long because crews are "splicing thousands of individual copper and fiber optic connections."

Verizon has not given an estimated time when all service will be restored to all areas.
