Strangest Police Logs of 2012

It's been a bizarre year for the North Andover Police Department.

Here is a list of some of the strangest police log entries of 2012:

Jan. 6: At 6:19 a.m., a woman walked into the station and said she was concerned because McDonald's was in darkness and they are usually open at that time. Police spoke with employees of McDonald's who said everything was fine and that they were just late opening the restaurant.

Jan. 14: At 9:19 a.m., a caller from Ashland Farms dialed 911 and said he was looking for his tea. A nurse later spoke to police and said the man was fine.

Jan. 25: At 4:38 p.m., Lawrence Police reported seeing an elderly man on Massachusetts Avenue near I-495 dancing, clapping and yelling at cars. Police found the man, who was just out for a walk.

April 7: At 1:14 a.m., a caller on Palomino Drive reported that his wife had gone out with friends and wasn't answering her phone. Police searched for the wife, who was found and was fine. She was heading home.

April 19: At 12:21 a.m., a caller reported hearing patrons yelling at Rolf's. It turned out that there was popcorn burning and the doors had been opened to clear the smoke.

April 28: At 5:14 p.m., a caller on Union Street reported that a woman got out of a red Toyota, took her flowers and drove off. Police did not find the suspect, but two tulips were taken.

May 3: At 11:26 a.m., a caller on Windkist Farm Road reported that a pig was tearing up her lawn. The pig was returned to its owner.

May 18: At 2:15 a.m., a caller on Davis Street reported that her neighbor was mowing his lawn. Police spoke with the neighbor, who stopped mowing for the night.

May 23: At 11:45 a.m., a caller on Skyview Terrace reported that their dog was stuck under a bed. Police helped get the dog out safely.

May 25: At 2:14 p.m., an employee at Kohl's reported that a female shoplifter had swallowed a pair of earrings. Police will summons the woman for larceny.

May 30: At 8:08 a.m., a caller at Sutton Pond Condominiums reported seeing an elderly man digging up turtle eggs by the dam. Police spoke to him.

June 5: At 9:46 p.m., a caller on Elm Street reported that her lanmdlord put a tent on her yard and she believes he may be living there. Police checked the tent, but no one was in it. And the tent was set up legally.

June 26: At 4:19 a.m., a caller on Pleasant Street reported that a woman she knew came in to use her bathroom and then stole a prepaid credit card.

June 29: At 11:26 a.m., a caller at Sal's Pizza reported there were wild turkeys there.

July 10: At about 11:30 p.m., police received a call reporting a man masturbating on the grass on Route 114.

July 18: At 8:15 a.m., a caller reported seeing a woman in a bathing suit on Route 125. Police did not find the woman.

July 31: At 3:24 p.m., a caller reported a man possibly exposing himself to cars at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and I-495. Police spoke to the man, and he denied exposing himself.

Aug. 4: At 12:50 p.m., an employee at Stop & Shop reported that a male had left the store with multiple cases of Red Bull.

Aug. 20: At 1:34 p.m., a caller on Johnson Street reported a dead rabbit on the road. But the rabbit was gone when police arrived.

Aug. 27: A resident on Winter Street reported that three "very large" pigs were asleep in the middle of that road.

Aug. 28: At 7:54 a.m., a caller at Panera reported that someone had assaulted employees by throwing coffee at them.

Sept. 3: At 4:22 p.m., Harold Parker State Forest workers reported complaints that a "scantily-clad" man was sitting near the pavilion. Police sent the man on his way.

Sept 11: At 12:01 p.m., a caller on Cilbert Street reported that a man was acting strangely and staring at the sun.

Sept. 23: At 8:05 a.m., a caller on Stonington Court reported that a skunk had its head stuck in a lattice. Police helped free the skunk.

Nov. 15: At 3:13 p.m., a caller on May Street reported that her house is for sale and her daughter walked in to find someone cleaning the home.

Dec. 2: At 6:26 p.m., a caller on Bear Hill Road reported that teenage boys had knocked on his door and then danced on his front lawn. Police did not find the teen dancers.
