State Rep.'s Son Charged With Domestic Assault

The following information was supplied by Andover Police. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The son of State Rep. Jim Lyons is charged with assaulting a family member after an incident Wednesday morning at their home.

At just before 9 a.m. Wednesday, Andover Police received a call about a domestic dispute involving Michael Lyons, 20, of 12 High Vale Road, Andover.

Several officers went to the scene, and police said Michael Lyons allegedly fled upon hearing about the call to police. State police assisted with a K-9 unit and were able to track him and apprehend him.

Lyons is charged with assault and battery of a household member.

This is the latest tangle with authorities for Michael Lyons. Last year, he was summonsed for cocaine possession after a vehicle accident in which the driver -- Lyons' friend -- was charged with driving drunk. In 2012, Lyons was charged with underage drinking at a party.

With all due respect to North Andover Patch and the great work you do I do not believe the father of the person who was arrested should be connected to this story nor should his name appear anywhere in this story. I cannot control what my adult children do and I am positive that nobody in MY family wants to be connected to the things that "I" do. The story should be MAN arrested not the SON of someone completely disconnected from the event was arrested. I know this is the standard of the current media culture but I implore North Andover Patch to set the standard not follow it. I routinely and viscoiusly attack the Eagle Tribune for this kind of stuff and I would not be able to sleep at night knowing I didn't at least address it here. I have always found NA Patch to be above reproach compared to the other media outlets in the state so it gives me no pleasure to address this, I only do so in the hopes that media stories are about the offenders who do wrong not who they are related to. Thanks for your time. . TOM

....Although i will add that there is far more justification for using the name of the father in this story than any other because this happened in his home. (though I still dont think its warranted so far in this story).

Bryan you are a piece of sh*t for posting this as a news story. How is this relevant to anyone in town? And what the hell do you know about what happened in someone's home? “Domestic assault” can be practically anything. Tom is absolutely correct. Go back to posting real estate listings from Zillow, and stay out of people’s personal lives.
