Stabbing Suspect Identified, Charged With Attempted Murder

The victim is reportedly in critical condition.

Police have made an arrest in the brutal stabbing of a man on Massachusetts Avenue.

Friday afternoon, police responded to reports of a stabbing on Massachusetts Avenue. The victim -- reportedly stabbed multiple times -- is 55-year-old male who was taken to Lawrence General Hospital and then flown to a Boston hospital.

Alcides B. Barahona, 29, of North Andover, was arrested at the scene and has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery domestic, attempted murde and assault and battery with serious bodily harm, according to District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett's office.

The victim is reportedly in critical condition. Earlier reports said that he had suffered significant blood loss and partial finger amputation.
