Police Seek Man in Possible Bank Robbery Attempt

North Andover police are looking for a man they think may have been planning to rob the Georgetown Savings Bank.

Was he serious?

That question is being asked by the after a peculiar incident at a local bank has left people scratching their heads.

On Thursday at about 4:20 p.m., a man walked into on Route 114, walked up to a teller and said he wanted all her money.

The man then reportedly said he wanted to open an account at the bank. The teller walked away to speak with another employee and when she returned, the man had left.

Police don't know if the man was joking or not, but they are siding with caution in the matter.

"The scene was processed," Police Chief Paul Gallagher said. "At this time, we still don’t know if this was a legitimate attempt to rob them. There was no weapon shown or any mention of having one."
