Police Investigate String of Burglaries

The following information was supplied by the North Andover Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following are excepts from the log.

Wednesday, Aug. 17

  • At 10:02 a.m., a Sargent Street resident reported items missing from his garage. Police took a report.
  • At 11:34 a.m., a caller from an Osgood Street business called to report a burglary. Police took a report.
  • At 11:41 a.m., police arrested Megan A. Ellis, 28, 25 Hartswood Dr., Haverhill, and charged her with operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license. Police made the arrest on Massachusetts Avenue.
  • At 11:38 a.m., police responded to Chickering Road about protestors surrounding a Verizon truck. Police found a Verizon crew working on a private residence and there was no problem.
  • At 3:34 p.m., police arrested John E. Newman 33, 68 Mill St., Apt. 1, Woburn, and charged him with shoplifting.
  • At 6:28 p.m., a Johnson Street resident reported a previous burglary. Police took a report.

Thursday, Aug. 18

  • At 7 a.m., police received a call about a missing 12-year-old boy in the area of Boston Street near the Andover line. Police searched the area and the boy was located safely.
  • At 9:50 a.m., police responded to Turnpike Street after a two-car motor vehicle accident. One person to taken to Lawrence General Hospital and the two vehicles were towed. One driver was cited for failure to yield.
  • At 12:37 p.m., police responded to Edgelawn Avenue about a pedestrian accident. The pedestrian was taken to Lawrence General Hospital.
  • At 2:25 p.m., a Salem Street resident reported that her Jack Russell terrier was loose in the area.
  • At 5:57 p.m., police received a call from Adams Avenue about a young child wandering around outside. An officer found the child’s parents and everything was OK.
  • At 7:49 p.m., police arrested Cody James Norwood, 18, 16 Fieldstone Court, North Andover, and charged him with a warrant for assault and battery.
  • At 9:10 p.m., a Wood Lane resident called police about a past burglary. Police are investigating a series of house breaks in the Waverley Road area. The suspect or suspects targeted homes with open ground-floor windows. They reportedly stole items, namely jewelry, during the break-ins. Police are asking residents to secure windows and report any unusual activity in their neighborhood. The police are also investigating the theft of a gray Honda Civic from the Elmwood Street area overnight.
