North Andover Native Suffers Fatal Injuries During Irene

North Andover High School graduate Seth Kline was killed in New Hampshire while helping to clear a branch from a road.

A North Andover native was killed in a tragic accident in New Hampshire last week, making him among the dozens of casualties of Hurricane Irene.

Seth Kline, 30, of California, formerly of North Andover, died after injuries sustained from a falling tree in Wolfeboro, N.H., during the impact of Tropical Storm Irene.

On Aug. 28 around noon, Wolfeboro, N.H., emergency crews were called to Oakwood Road and found two men under tree debris, according to Fire Department reports. Kline had tried to move a branch out of the road when a large tree fell onto him.

He was rushed to the Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, but his injuries were too extensive and he was placed on life support, from which he was later removed.

Kline's death marked the first casualty in New Hampshire from the storm. There were more than 40 deaths on the east coast, including six in Vermont.

Kline graduated from North Andover High School in 1998 and studied engineering at Union College, from where he graduated in 2002.

Local memorial services for Kline are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Stevens Estate.
