Local Police Attend School Safety Conference

The conference was hosted by District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.

Four members of the attended Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett's 10th annual school safety conference at the Peabody Marriott.

Officer Tracy Castiglione, Officer Thomas Donovan, Officer Brendan Gallagher and Chief  Paul Gallagher attended the event, which focused on the important work police departments do for school safety.

“In a time when there are so many ways we can communicate and connect with others, whether its by text, tweet or on Facebook, young people are reporting that they do not have three adults in their life that they can turn to in a time of trouble or challenge,” Blodgett said at the conference.  “When there is a lack of connection, young people often act out."

Other speakers included child/teen development specialist Robyn Silverman; motivational speaker Al Duncan; Community Oriented Policing Services Director Bernard Melekian; Congressman John Tierney; and Derrek Shulman, Regional Director of the Anti-Defamation League.
