Local Business Robbed at Knifepoint

Police are still looking for the suspect.

A man reportedly robbed a local dry cleaning business at knifepoint Thursday evening, police said.

say a man walked into Silver Cleaners at 733 Turnpike St. around 5:15 p.m. brandishing a knife and demanding money. The only other person in the store was the clerk, Detective Dan Cronin said, and there were no injuries.

The man, described as a pale, thin white male wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, reportedly fled on foot. Police searched the area, with a K-9 dog, but did not locate him.

The suspect got away with an undetermined amount of money, Cronin said, and the business will conduct an audit to see how much cash was taken.

Police are also investigating whether or not the robbery could be related to a A man wearing a hooded sweatshirt reportedly walked into Star Nails in Andover Tuesday evening and robbed that business at knifepoint.

And just prior to the North Andover robbery, there was a similar attempt in North Reading, although that suspect did not get any money.

“We’re not sure if any of these are related, but we’re working with North Reading and Andover Police to investigate,” Cronin said.
