Landscaping Truck Ignites on 125

There were no injuries reported.

A landscaping truck ignited in flames in front of North Andover High School on
Chickering Road Thursday afternoon.

The truck belonged to Northeast Landscape Contractors based out of Clark Street in North Andover.

There were no injuries reported. The driver was outside of the truck when it ignited.

"He had some vehicle problems, the vehicle stalled and he pulled over," Fire Lt. Bill McCarthy said. "He went to restart vehicle and noticed smoke coming from the engine.

The call actually came from the Wilmington Fire Chief, who was driving by at the time, McCarthy said.

North Andover firefighters were able to extinguish the fire fairly quickly, and the truck was pulled over on the side of the road so, with the time of day and police assistance, traffic was not severely backed up.
