Flood Forces St. Michael's School Evacuation

A burst sprinkler pipe is to blame.

The students and teachers at St. Michael's School were evacuated Thursday afternoon after a burst pipe flooded the first floor.

"They had a sprinkler pipe burst in an attic space and a significant amount of water on on the second floor was raining down to the firs floor," North Andover Fire Lt. John Weir said. Computer rooms and classrooms were affected. "There's pretty extensive water damage."

Weir added that the staff's quick thinking kept the kids safe.

"When they noticed a little bit of water leaking, they took them across the street to St. Michael's Church," Weir said.
