City Establishes 'One Fund' for Marathon Victims

Money collected through OneFundBoston.com will benefit the victims of the marathon bombing.

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and Governor Deval Patrick announced a new online funding effort to help the marathon bombing victims and families. OneFundBoston.com launched Tuesday as a simple logo and Paypal link.

“I am humbled by the outpouring of support by the business community and individuals who are united in their desire to help; The One Fund Boston will act as a central fund to receive much-needed financial support.” said Patrick in a latter linked to the site. “At moments like this, we are one state, one city, and one people.”

According to Menino, Boston's business community has already stepped up and donated to the fund. John Hancock has already donated $1 million to the fund, and other luminaries of the business community have made commitments to give.
