North Andover Leash Laws

Last Sunday as I was walking my dog, a neighbor came out of his front door with his golden retriever - off leash. His dog proceeded to go after my dog as we both tried to separate them. In the process of him trying to get his dog on a leash, the golden came in front of me and went through my legs, as my dog came from behind and bit the back of my leg. It was an intense altercation and I ended up in urgent care for over 2 hours. Before receiving care I had to report what happened and report my dog for biting me. After receiving great care and a tetanus shot I had to go home and keep my leg elevated for two days until the swelling went down. When all was said and done, I was out over $100.00 plus a days work. This could all have been avoided if the owner had his dog on a leash! Now, because he didn't, my dog is on house quarantine for a mandatory 10 days. Thank goodness I have a yard because I'm not allowed to take my dog for a walk in our neighborhood. Do you know what it's like not to be able to walk your dog for ten days when they are used to going at least three times a day? This is the second time in 6 months that a dog came out of a neighbors house, off leash and attacked either me or my dog. Please know your leash laws so this does NOT happen to you. You are to have total control of your dog when coming out of your home or yard, i.e. have them on a leash.
