Barber Shop Raising Money for Tommy Strong

Give someone a trim, help a local child.

The community support for Tommy Cox -- a local 10-year-old who lost one of his legs in a boating accident -- and this month you can help out while also providing a loved one with a trim.

From now until Dec. 31, the North Andover Barber Shop is donating all proceeds from gift certificates to the Tommy Strong Fund.

Owner Diane Nocco said a gift certificate drive makes more sense than a one-day cut-a-thon this time of year, with most people busy shopping and preparing for Christmas. And hair cuts make great gifts as well.

Cox lost one leg and severely injured his other leg in a boating accident on Lake Winnipesaukee on Sept. 5. Visit www.tommystrong.com for more details, to donate and to join the Tommy Strong team.

Tommy -- who attends Sargent Elementary School and enjoys wrestling, lacrosse and football -- has had multiple surgeries since the accident and will require extensive medical treatment in the future. And his family must renovate their home to make it accessible for him.

So if you're looking for a present for people you know they'll use, give them a haircut and you can help a local child through his difficult journey.
