Fall into Adelante with the Merrimack Valley YMCA to raise money for student scholarships at the Adelante Scholarship Dinner

By Katie DesBois.

On Saturday, September 28th 2013, the Merrimack Valley YMCA will host the 2nd Annual Adelante Education Center Scholarship Fundraising Dinner, “Fall into Adelante”, at the Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover.  More than 200 community members attend this event each year in an effort to raise over $30,000 which goes directly to pay for private high school scholarships for the students in the YMCA Adelante Program. This fundraising evening will include a buffet dinner, silent auction, presentations from Adelante students, and an opportunity for guests to join Adelante students in a trivia game.

As the new school year begins, many students will jump into another year of after-school programming at the Lawrence YMCA’s Adelante Education Center.  Throughout the year, the YMCA Adelante Education Center provides academic support and enrichment opportunities to over 100 students from economically disadvantaged families.  The Adelante Education Center helps students gain admission to tuition-based high schools and college, gives students access to scholarship funds, and shapes future leaders through academic enrichment and community service opportunities.

“At the Merrimack Valley YMCA, we strive to provide innovative programs that challenge and encourage youth and teens to prepare for their future and achieve their full potential,” said Frank Kenneally, Vice President of Operations at the Merrimack Valley YMCA.  “Our Adelante Education Center offers just this, and we are reaching out to community members to help us provide hard-working, high achieving Adelante students with scholarship funds so that they are able to meet their educational goals.”
