What's the Oldest House in Town?

One reader asks, "What's the oldest house in town? Is it the Parson Barnard House?"

One curious Patch reader asked:

"What's the oldest house in town? Is it the Parson Barnard House?"

That is unclear, because ages of homes are often judged by not just titles but also style and other period features. The Barnard House is certainly very old and was once thought to have been built in the 1600s but was later found to have been built in the early 1700s.

An even older house is the Bridges House on Court Street. The house has been added to over the centuries, but the original portion of the house dates back to about 1690. The home was moved to Court Street from Marblehead Road about 10 years ago. And many believe this is the oldest house in North Andover.

Another home believed to to be the oldest is the John Faulkner House on Appleton Street. That home was recently chosen as the setting of an independent horror film. That home dates to 1689 and was home to one of the founding families of the town.
