Tornado Watch in Effect for New England

The National Weather Service says conditions are favorable for tornado activity in New England including North Andover.

We may not be in Kansas, but we may get a taste of it.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for much of New England, including the Merrimack Valley, until 8 p.m. today. The watch is also in effect in parts of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

There may be hail of 2 inches in diameter and thunderstorms with winds up to 70 miles per hour and, in some areas, tornadoes. Flooding is also possible.

A tornado watch does not mean a tornado will definitely strike, National Weather Service points out. It means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms and that people should use caution, stay home if possible and check for updates on the situation throughout the watch time.
