North Andover Winter Storm Center

The storm brought a morning mess.

When we went to bed, there was a little sprinkling of snow and none of it was really sticking. By the time we woke up this morning, that had dramatically changed.

North Andover hasn't gotten as much impact out of this storm as other areas -- the North Shore is in danger of flooding and the mid-Atlantic is practically in a middle of a blizzard.

Temperatures were too warm Thursday to allow for any accumulation on the roads, but things changed Thursday night when temperatured dropped below freezing and show fell at a much faster pace.

The snow that fell was wet, and the freezing temperatures turned it into a sheet of ice. Wind gusts reached about 35 miles per hour, scattering branches and other debris. There have been no power outages reported in North Andover, but National Grid has extra crews standing by, just in case.

Snow is expected to wind down late Friday morning.
