St. Patrick's: Five Local Places to Rock the Green

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Here are five places you may want to celebrate.

It's St. Patrick's Day, that time of year when everyone's Irish. So break out that festive (or tacky) green sweater, call your many friends named Sully, and rock the day with Irish flair.

And you don't have to trek all the way to Boston to celebrate. Here are five local places to go tonight.

Ok technically Rolf's isn't Irish, but today it is. And this Main street pub offers the atmosphere of beer flowing and music playing you may be craving, as well as a wide selection of food. Rolf's will have live music and free corned beef sandwiches.

In the mood to go old world? The Loft on Route 125 offers a classic setting to get your Irish on with a steak and some beer. And they have a special St. Patrick's Day menu planned too.

Often compared to Cheers, Jimmy's Culpeppers at 815 Turnpike St. offers a classic pub seting with pub food and, of course, a wide selection of beer.

4. The Claddagh: It's an obvious choice -- the most popular Irish bar in the area -- The Claddagh on Canal Street in Lawrence. They will be holding their St. Patrick's Day Family celebration all day. The celebration includes music by Beyond The Pale and The McTaggarts and a special appearance by The Kevin Barry Pipe Band. A children's party will take place in the upstairs with face painting, a DJ and a clown. There will also be a step dance demonstration.

The restaurant chain, at 267 Chickering Road, is providing a full spread of specials for St. Patrick's Day. They'll be providing the traditional corn beef and cabbage as well as Irish appetizers and, of course, green beer. They will also be offering specials such as the Guinness barbeque brisket sandwich.
