Sigh of Relief: North Andover Reacts to Bomber Arrest

A week of terror has come to an end.

North Andover, along with the rest of the region, is breathing a sigh of relief after the apprehension of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

Tsarnaev, 19, and his older brother Tamerlan, 26, allegedly planted two bombs near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday. The explosions killed three people -- an 8-year-old boy, a 29-year-old woman and a Boston University graduate student -- and injured more than 170 others.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed in a shootout early Friday morning. an MIT police officer was also killed, and an MBTA police officer was wounded. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was apprehended in Watertown Friday night.

"I was glad, this is bigger than Red Sox winning the World Series for me," said Jimmy Tringale, owner of Jimmy's Culpeppers "When you have kids, it hits home. When I saw that 8-year-old kid's picture, I saw my son."

Across town, Rolf's owner Lesley Carlson echoed those sentiments.

"I'm glad the appreheded him, so residents of Boston and surrounding communities can rest now," Carlson said. "Hopefully the victims' families and loved ones can get some answers to this senseless tragedy."

Selectman Tracy Watson was on vacation on a Disney Cruise with her family all week, and she said many pof the people on the cruise were from the Boston area.

"Many prayers were said and bonds were made among strangers," Watson said. "We were united in our love for America and we too rejoiced when the second terrorist was caught."

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is reportedly hospitalized in serious condition. He has not been mirandized hich is already causing debate.

"I'm glad the government is invoking a public safety exception and will not be reading Dzhokhar Tsarnaev his miranda rights," Tracey Zysk of Wiggles & Jiggles said.
